Favorites of his of mine: "The Ox", done with the Who (he was listed as a co-writer with Townshend, Entwhistle, and Moon) and "Edward (The Mad Shirt Grinder)", his own composition done with the American band Quicksilver Messenger Service, of which he was briefly a member.

I came here to write the same thing about his time with QMS and 'Edward The Mad Shirt Grinder!' Although this is far from my favorite period of the band, Hopkins brought something to their sound, and his keys traded off well with Cipollina's distinctive guitar playing.

Thanks for sharing this - an incredibly talented musician.

Difficult to look beyond Edward as the best showcase of his artistry, but my personal favourite is the crowd pleasing ' Sunny Afternoon'.

I always loved "Girl From Mill Valley" on the 'Beck Ola' album - completely out of character with the rest of the LP, but an indication of the high regard Beck had for Nicky. A nice breather from the relentless proto-metal found on the rest of the LP and a memorable tune to say the least. He's also credited on 3 other 'original' tracks on that record - basically Beck-ized blues standards, all greatl.
