The early reputation of Sheffield was for its cutlery wares, and this reputation it still maintains. It is well-known to those who are conversant with the facts, that Sheffield produces the best cutlery that is made. A Sheffield knife or razor, with the mark of a good firm upon it, with hold its ground against the world.1
It was only when I was flicking through some of my vinyl that it struck me that Pulp’s His ‘n’ Hers had just passed it’s 30th anniversary. This wonderful slice of the seedy underbelly of life is well regarded but definitely worth another scrutiny and certainly another play. Stick it on whilst I write about it.
I lived in Sheffield in the early 90s, managing to spend a few enjoyable night at the legendary Limit nightclub before it closed down.
